Andong National University Museum
Andong National University Museum was established for academic activities such as surveying, studying and exhibiting cultural assets of the local region. The museum opened at Myeongnyun-dong in 1979, and moved to Songcheon-dong in 1985 together with the university.
Chonbuk National University Museum
Chonbuk National University Museum opened on May 1, 1961. with a collection of 24,000 artifacts. Chonbuk National University Museum plays an important role as a specialized regional research center, and it has held more than 10 special exhibition events and 20 cultural courses.
Chosun University Museum
Since it's opening in May, 1992, Chosun University Museum has led the collection and study of data related to the history and traditional cultures of the local regions. The museum has also provided a space for sharing the history and the culture of the Honam area by exhibiting cultural artifacts, developing and operating community education programs. Further, the museum continuously provides the public with opportunities to experience history through lectures, special seminars, and excavation site exploration programs.
Chungbuk University Museum
Our museum researches, collects, studies and exhibits ancient relics, historical art, applied fine arts and folk customs in order to provide research work to faculty and students for easier understanding of our history and culture.
Daegu Hanny University Museum
Daegu Hanny University Museum opened on September 16, 1995 to show the characteristics of Daegu Hanny University which grew upon oriental medicine as well as the characteristics of the region as the traditional drug market and the culture of the local community.
Daegu University Museum
Daegu University, the museum promotion committee, opened the museum at the professional college building(165§³) in Daemyeong-dong campus in Daegu.
Daejeon Health Sciences College Museum
The museum runs several exhibition halls designed to help our students, alumni, faculty, and our community to appreciate and understand the Korean culture. The Traditional Culture Hall emphasizes the inheritance and preservation of the traditional cultures; The Medical Equipment Hall supplements the College's collection of health sciences related resources.
Daejeon University Museum
The Daejeon University Museum aims to collect, conserve, and display the cultural heritage and artifacts of Korea, and it also investigates and studies them to contribute to the development and education of our culture, arts and scholarship.
Dongguk University Museum
Dongguk University Museum was established in 1963. According to the principles of Dongguk University, the Museum has been committed to the collection, exhibition, preservation, research, and surveying of Buddhist art and antiquities. Dongguk University Museum has contributed to the understanding of Korean Buddhist culture.
Duksung Women's University Museum
Duksung Women's University Museum started with the opening of a small exhibition room (approximately 130 square feet) on the seventh floor of Pavilion D in the Unni-dong Campus, in May, 1971. The museum moved to the third floor of Household Pavilion in Ssangmun-dong Campus in 1982, which provided total space of approximately 390 sq. ft., accommodating the folklore hall (approx. 169), the ancient art hall (46), a corridor exhibiting modern arts (80) and an archive (63 sq. ft).
Ewha Womans University Museum
The official opening of Ewha Womans University Museum was held in 1935 with an exhibition presenting a collection of Korean art and folk objects donated by professors and students. It was aimed to preserve Korean culture and boost the national spirit under the colonial rule of Japan.
Ewha Woman's University Natural History Museum
The Natural History Museum of Ewha Woman's University was established on November 20, 1969 for the purpose of contributing to the education on nature to school and to the community. It was renovated in May 1997 to incorporate new advanced exhibition technologies.
Gyeongju University Museum
Located in Gyeongju, the hometown of Silla, Gyeongju University Museum has some 2,300 artifacts in its collection. Most of the artifacts are roof tiles from the Silla Era, and include stoneware from the Bronze Age, earthenware and ironware from the Ancient Three Kingdoms Era, and murals from the late Joseon Dynasty.
Gyeongsang National University Museum
The Gyeongsang National University Museum was established in May 1983 for the purpose of investigating and researching the prehistoric and ancient culture of western Gyeongsang-namdo, and displaying its findings for the general public.
Hallym University Museum
Established in November, 1984 and approved by the ministry of education in September, 1985, the museum was officially opened as an affiliated organization of Hallym university on the May 18, 1988. It aims to contribute to the improvement of the educational level, the advancement of learning, and the local cultural development through the research and investigation of various remains and relics in the area of antiquities, history and folk customs.
Hannam University Natural History Museum
The Hannam University Natural History Museum has been considered as a specialized museum for natural heritage with 20-year's history since its opening in 1983. The museum collects and studies data relevant to natural history such as geology, fossils, animals and plants through aggressive excavation and research activities.
Hanyang University Museum
The museum opened in 1980 to collect, store and exhibit data and relics related to all areas of study including, history, culture, arts, folklore and anthropology and provide data to staff, students and the public. The museum has collected 5153 common relics through contribution and purchase, and has also collected 522 trade tools used by artists and craftsmen deemed human cultural icons.
Kangwon University Museum
Kangwon University Museum (henceforth, KWUM) opened on May 1, 1979. Since the opening, KWUM has excavated and collected lots of historic relics and folklore materials. KWUM was officially opened and displayed to the public permanently on October 11, 1985.
Keimyung University Museum
Utmost efforts from our museum offer historical, cultural, and ancient living experiences not only to our students, but also to the public. In addition, active efforts on contributing regional culture by education with data to be an advanced education center in the community.
Kongju National University Museum
Kongju National University Museum has been around for more than 40 years - ever since its predecessor, Hyangtogwan was built at Kongju National Teachers' College, the predecessor of Kongju National University.
Kookmin University Museum
The Kookmin University Museum provides expertise as well as universality of sciences for the academic field, and the museum develops various programs to perform critical role for the development of the local community cultures.
Korea University Museum
Korea University Museum (Henceforth, KUM) was established in 1934. It was the first one as the museum of university in Korea. In 1936, KUM could start to collect the folklore items, aided by the donation from Mrs. An Ham-pyeong. After that, many people have donated lots of historical materials to KUM.
Kunsan National University Museum
Kunsan National University Museum collects, preserves, studies and manages a variety of materials related to human life. Those materials represent different fields such as archeology, history, art, and folklore.
Kwandong University Museum
The Kwandong University Museum opened on April 10, 1976 on the fifth floor of the Liberal Art Building in the Gangreung Campus and was then called Folklore Museum to commemorate establishment of the Korean History Education Department (the first curator: Prof. In-Hak Choi, currently a professor at Inha University).
Kyonggi University Museum
The Kyonggi University Museum opened on October 27, 1983. The typical artifacts displayed by the museum include agricultural implements and folk drawings. The agriculture exhibition hall of the museum the first of its kind in Korea exhibits agricultural relics,
Kyung Hee University Museum
Kyung Hee University Museum (opened in 1955) is a class I museum (Ministry of Culture and Tourism Reg., No. 193) for archaeology, history and folklore. The museum has led the university culture through various activities including academic and educational activities, exhibitions, surface and excavation surveys of cultural assets.
Kyungbook National University Museum
The museum opened in 1959. It consists of an independent building (total area 5488§³) that houses 8 exhibition rooms, an audiovisual room, a conservation laboratory, and a spacious, beautiful outdoor stone artifact exhibition space (13,824§³), which is a rare feature in university museums.
Kyungnam University Museum
Kyungnam University Museum (henceforth) has shown lots of activities during the last 25 years since November 18, 1976 when it was established. During the initial period, classrooms were transferred to small exhibition room through remodeling which only displayed approximately 600 items, but currently the exhibition room itself is 264§³.
Museum of Catholic University of Daegu
The museum collects, stores, displays and exhibits artifacts of history, archeology, arts, folklore and anthropology domestically and abroad. The museum focuses on women's history in Korea and items from the Silla and Gaya cultures.
Myongji University Museum
The University Museum has been placed on a firm basis since the late founder, Dr. Sanguine You, donated a total of 100 items from his own family treasure. The current Museum opened on March 5, 1979, and elevated its status by joining the Korea University Museum Association on May 10th of that year. It has played an instrumental role in inter-collegiate museum exchange programs and will continue to preserve and develop archeological history, traditional art, and natural history.
Pusan National University Museum
The Pusan National University Museum opened in 1964. The museum has studied the history and the cultures of Korea in wide scope from the prehistoric period to the modern era through accumulation of various data. In particular, the museum has concentrated on the study of the history and the culture of Gaya of the prehistoric period and the ancient ages in the areas of Busan and Gyeonsangnam-do (where the university is located).
R.O.K Naval Academy Museum
Having been attacked by the overseas countries throughout its history, Korea has yielded many of great commanders who fought against the attacks from the seas. Particularly, Admiral Yi Sun-shin, the great commander and hero who defended the country during the Japanese Invasion of the late 16th century, is the spiritual mainstay of the R.O.K Navy.
Sahmyook University Museum
The Sahmyook University Museum was founded through the sponsorship of Mr. Geon-Ho Kim. Mr. Kim, from Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do, has spent his life interested in antiques and ancient paintings, continuously purchasing articles of cultural assets for the past 20 years to build a collection of about 2,400 art works. Mr. Kim even sold his rice field on numerous occasions to purchase articles of historic and cultural value.
Sangmyung University Museum
In observance of the founding philosophy of"Enhancing moral characters and individuality under the ideology of justice, love and truth, so as to cultivate decent and competent personnel who can contribute to welfare of the state and creating an academic culture," Sangmyung University Museum was opened in 1965 with a view to contributing to helping students and the residents of the local community to better understand history and archeology, and providing them with an opportunity to experience culture.
Sogang University Museum
Opened on February 2, 1974, the Sogang University Museum aims to be an aid for the students in their search for understanding and attaining an aesthetic sense and intellectual knowledge of Korean art and culture.
Sookmyung Women's University Museum
Sookmyung Women's University Museum opened on June 10, 1971
with about 300 articles from Sookmyung Women's University's collection .
Museum's collection focuses on culture, art, archaeology, anthropology, ethnology, and especially on items related to women's history.
Sunchon National University Museum
The Sunchon National University Museum, the first museum in eastern Jeollanam-do, opened on September 1, 1987. Since its opening, the museum has contributed to the research of the region's history, culture, and public education through ongoing excavation surveys of the area, annual lectures on cultural topics, and operation of the permanent exhibition halls.
Sungkyunkwan University Museum
Sungkyunkwan University Museum collects, excavates and exhibits the cultural assets of Korea covering various areas including the Confucian culture of the Joseon Era, anthology, and history. To fulfill its purpose, the university opened the museum on the fifth floor of then central library on June 22, 1964.
Sungshin Women's University Museum
Sungshin Women's University Museum was established to contribute to the defining of independent women of new generation in Korea, who at the same time understand the unique life styles and social structures of Koreans that have been derived from the old, traditional beliefs and culture.
The Catholic University of Korea
The Catholic University Museum of the Liturgy was established in May, 1989 with the objective of instilling the accurate view of Korea's traditional thoughts and philosophies and to clarify and reaffirm the historical missions of the Catholic Church in Korea.
The Museum of Korea National University of Education
The museum of the university, opened in 1987, preserves some five thousand relics relevant to education, archeology, history, and folklore; and significantly contributes to the understanding of tradition and the history of cultural properties in Korea. In particular, the museum has significantly contributed to academic studies of education and cultures by collecting, preserving, and exhibiting cultural relics, and to the cultivation of a thoroughly national spirit and independent philosophy of history.
The Museum of Medicine
The collection includes 10,000 or more (900 or more kinds) modern medical relics and 15,000 or more volumes of documents related to Korean medical history. 350 pieces are exhibited in 5 exhibition rooms on the 2nd floor of the main building of Daehan Hospital which was constructed in 1908 during the Korean Empire.
The Seokjuseon Memorial Museum
The Field of Archeology and History
This field was called 'the museum' at the opening time. But, when the Seokjuseon Memorial Folk Arts Museum was open in 1981, its name was changed into the Central Museum. The first opening year of this museum was 1967. It have collected and housed many historic items in the area of culture, education, science, archeology, anthropology, and folklore
University of Seoul Museum
The University of Seoul Museum opened on September 4, 1984 for the purposes of surveying, collecting, preserving and exhibiting the valuable cultural properities of Korea. The museum is equally dedicated to supporting educational activities of university undergraduates, and providing community residents with a cultural ground.
Wonkwang University Museum
Our university has established the museum in January, 1968 by fully being aware of the fact that there should be a professional institution to exhibit, educate, research and study the important historic and cultural heritage of Iksan region which was the center of Mahan and Baekje period. The museum started with 66§³ structure of exhibition room with 274 relics.
Woosuk University Museum
The museum was established in April 1983 with artifacts donated by professors, undergraduates and faculty members.
The museum is located on the 21st floor of the main building, and has a total space of 496.42m2 (219.9 m2 of exhibition hall, 48.82 m2 of data archive, and two 17.35 m2 offices) for classifying and exhibiting the artifacts collected so far.
Yeungnam University Museum
The Museum of Yeungnam University was established to promote exchanges and improvement of cultures, both locally and internationally. The museum collects, preserves, and exhibits materials related to Korean history, archaeology, arts, folklore, and anthropology.
Yonsei University Museum
The history of Yonsei University museum began when the museum department was created under the literature department as part of an educational undertaking in March, 1924. (Yonsei University was Yonhee Vocational Academy at that time) In March, 1928, Dr A.I. Ludlow, Sir Nam Kung Ok, et al donated porcelains and coins of Joseon period, and the museum was established.
